Description

The genus Allium also contains a number of other species variously referred to as onions and cultivated for food, such as the Japanese bunching onion (A. fistulosum), Egyptian onion (A. ×proliferum), and Canada onion (A. canadense).[2] The name “wild onion” is applied to a number of Allium species.  Onions can be used in almost every type of food, including cooked foods and fresh salads and as a spicy garnish.  The whole plant is edible and is used as food in some form or another.

Dehydrated onion prepared from fresh white onions which have been cleaned, sliced, dehydrated.  Use anywhere you would use fresh onion. Reconstitute with ice water to use as garnish on hamburgers, hot dogs or in salads.  If your recipe calls for 1/3 cup fresh onion, substitute approximately 1/4 cup dried chopped onion.
